The Stanton 7 Journey

On August 20th 2020 my wife Liz and I loaded up our 5 children and struck out in our RV. We were headed out on a national reconciliation tour. We are launching during a pandemic because the country is hurting more than it has in recent memory. I am black my wife is white and our children are of mixed ancestry as a result. We are America and are determined to show a picture of peace and life together reconciled. We believe we are uniquely purposed to offer healing to the country by way of justice through creativity.

Executive Summary

Our mission is to catalyze forgiveness and reconciliation across racial lines in America. This is to be done through creative events and content.
The societal relational state of Americans of European descent and Americans of African descent is at a crossroads. Each year we experience increasing unrest that has included a spate of police shootings of unarmed individuals, fatalities that have caused rioting, and a mass shooting in a house of worship. Behind a veil of political correctness we pretend that segregation no longer describes the landscape of churches, neighborhoods, and national conscience. How long will we let this wound fester and divide us currently and into our future that has yet to be written? In my heart, I believe the best of us all has yet to be seen.

It has been said that as it goes in the hearts, so it goes in the Nation. It’s easy to point fingers at the government -or other segments of society and blame them for the present state of segregation, bias, and discrimination. However, if the country is segregated along racial lines it’s simply a reflection that we are separated internally. Bringing change in the nation starts with bringing change in our own hearts. Protesting injustice can be effective in changing laws. It’s much more difficult to confront the pride, un-forgiveness and hatred in our own hearts.

We plan to invite people to sign the Declaration of Forgive Us (“The Declaration”) as a manner of confronting the injustice in our own hearts, organizations, churches and communities. Ideally, a local church would partner with another church of different racial disposition (where applicable) in their city to jointly host a signing for individuals to participate in. We are asking for a move of Gods healing that will lead to a move of racial reconciliation in America.
